Building on the success of our first projects, Master Group is currently developing Master Green Energy Limited (MGEL), a second 50 MW wind farm in Jamshoro region. Currently in the construction phase, the project is expected to come online by third quarter of 2021.
This project is in line with the Government of Pakistan’s desire to reduce dependence on thermal generation and increase the share of renewables in the energy mix. MGEL is being financed by a consortium of local and international lenders, comprising Islamic Corporation for Development of the Private Sector (ICD), Bank Alfalah Limited and Pakistan Kuwait Investment Company Limited.
Location
The wind farm is situated on 300 acres of land, allocated to the project by Department of Energy Government of Sindh (DOEGOS) in Goth Dehson Walhar, District Jamshoro. It is accessible via the Super Highway which runs between Karachi and Hyderabad. With high wind speeds and sparse population, the area is considered ideal for wind power projects.
Project Implementation
The project will generate electricity through 25 x 2 MW Gamesa G114 turbines. With 35 years’ experience in the wind industry and installed base capacity of more than 89 GW, GAMESA is a global technological leader in the wind industry, with footprint in 90 countries. Its comprehensive response also includes wind turbine operation and maintenance services. The company has production centers in the main wind markets: Spain and China, as the global production and supply hubs, while maintaining its local production capacity in India and Brazil.
The Project is being constructed through a local concern of the renowned global contractor Hydro China.
The O&M of the Project will be performed by Hydro China during the first two years following Commercial Operations Date.
